maximum framebuffer outputs

Hi there,

I recently updated to XPression 11.5 and wanted use 4 F/K outputs on a Decklink Quad 2. This was possible at least up to XPression V7. Now in V 11.5 I recognized, that it is no more possible. 3 F/K Outputs do work but the 4. F/K output that I trie to configure is always configured as a preview output. I wonder why… When we purchased our XPression licenses back in 2010 (before Ross Video took over the product from Media Refinery) there was no software-coded limitation to the number of F/K outputs on the studio version. Then we purchased an additional license in 2011, where Ross Video splitted the Studio Edition into “SCE” (Single Channel Edition) and "MCE (Multi Channel Edition). “Multi” again came without any restriction to the possible Number of F/K outputs. And now? It’s 2024 and I have the latest flagship edition but can only use 3 F/K outputs max.? Please can someone explain why?

If this is a software restriction with Ross Video, can someone tell me in which version number this feature of unlimited F/K framebuffers was cut down to only three? And how I could get the latest release of XPression Studio that is able to use an unlimited number of F/K outputs?

Thanks in advance!

Hello Sefa - in XPression version 8.0 we split the MCE again, into Standard Edition and Flex Edition. Standard edition (just called Studio) allows a max of 3 F/K outputs. Studio Flex edition allows unlimited.

Because you purchased the original XPression MCE versions, you are entitled to switch to the Flex edition of XPression at no cost. You should reach out to your Ross Regional Sales Manager (probably Steffen Buschmann) about having this change made, we need to update your account and the license. Please also CC me in the email. I will message you my email address.
